Maine Life Science Wet-Lab Project
Proposals are due July 1, 2025
Background
Maine’s life sciences sector is growing, fueled by more than 500 organizations spanning biotechnology, diagnostics and medical devices, marine and aquaculture science, healthcare innovation, and fields like AI, data science, and bioinformatics. Strong institutional feeders and a steady rise in early-stage ventures are encouraging signs of momentum. However, many companies reach a point of development where they need access to a wet lab with full services and shared equipment in order to continue their progress. Maine does not currently offer a full wet lab facility with services, office space, meeting rooms, purchasing services and waste management services.
Project Goals
The Maine Life Science Wet Lab project administered by MTI will provide funding of up to $2.7M to an experienced wet lab operator to create such a facility in the Portland region. Interested parties should contact the project coordinator, Matt Hoffner, for additional information. The full RFP is available here and all proposals are due July 1, 2025.
